[ It's good to hear from Alucard. Thancred's been too preoccupied with what's directly in front of him and swirling around in his own mind to have the forethought to reach out to many Summoned in other territories, so he appreciates Alucard's proactiveness. ]
[ Thancred's been busy moving and also keeping his ear to the ground in the Castle, himself. ]
I think all of us are a bit stunned, were I to hazard a guess. The implications of what we experienced are many, and it feels like it might take me an entire moon to sort through them.
Politically, there has been some movement while we were all in the crater. Admiral Sidwell of the navy has been making some changes around the castle.
I suppose that stands to reason. How would you say you fall on that scale, then?
Sidwell has installed himself at the castle. This is purportedly to help support the king and queen, but he has brought members of his navy with him and made some swift and decisive changes. Firings, a few arrests, as well as sending certain mages back to Hayle.
Your life choices, or choices we were led to believe we will make in a future that is in no way guaranteed?
I couldn't say for certain, but the two of them appear to be quite close. She is his niece, after all. The truly juicy bit of gossip, however, is that the admiral's wife has been spending time with the king alone. They go out riding together.
I can understand wanting to adjust your actions to avoid events from playing out as we witnessed. The question is how much stock we wish to put into any of that.
Either way, it seems likely that more changes will be happening around the castle before long. I'll continue to keep my ear to the ground.
Which god? One of us Summoned, or one of those who came before?
I can't be certain. It's difficult to know what's said behind closed doors here in the castle, but I'll do my best not to have the rug pulled out from under me.
Perhaps it would be worth contacting him again, though I realize that is easier said than done now that we are once again lowly mortals.
[ Well, Alucard's situation is different, given that he's a dhampir. But still. ]
We are in agreement there, friend. This feels like it has been brewing for far too long, and in my experience, that means it is rigged to explode in spectacular fashion.

I do not like that information at all. How often is he with the queen alone?

That sounds less like infidelity and more like two instruments being played to the same tune.

Do you think there will be any other hints before something dramatic happens?

Thank you. It'll impact all of us, I worry.

I agree with you there. Anything that happens in Thorne is bound to have a rippling effect out to the other territories, especially the Cities.

I don't like it. And I know that you know to be careful, but I feel the need to say it all the same.

Please be careful. I'll simply leave it there.

I'll do what I can. Hopefully you can't see the blast from Cadens.
