That may be a possibility we can research, though the fey are rather tight-lipped, so I don't know how much we'll uncover. Something to keep in mind, in any case.
[ That second theory is quite interesting, though. ]
Oliver and Elizabeth, you mean? The idea being that they were summoned long before us?
Only the Summoning during the Ninth Mage's time, around 3,000 years ago. Last year I spoke with the king, he confirmed that it happened. The ritual back then was more experimental somehow.
He also said that those Summoned became "unhinged and dangerous" and "became something unlike themselves". He said they were treated as a threat, and implied they were put down. But I've wondered what exactly happened, and if it were possible any escaped. And if they might be changed in some way that they're unrecognizable.
I've shared this with Alucard, Istredd, and some others.
It's quite a lot to take in. Why did they decide to suddenly try to summon again with our set, after all those years had passed? There must have been some sort of breakthrough with the spell work.
But you're right. If that much time has passed, and if these Summoned were unstable in some way, I feel like it would be quite difficult to recognize them as anything approaching human. Assuming they weren't put down long, long ago.
[ It's chilling to think that could have been them. ]
I wonder if this is also why some of the Summoned were originally put in the dungeons when they first arrived. Did Ambrose and his mages fear they would transform somehow?
I suppose only time will tell if they're correct about that, but we all seem to be stable enough.
[ jump cut to this upcoming event i mean what ]
What still seems unclear is what branded them as "mistakes." Maybe it was as simple as them not being exactly who Ambrose intended to pull, but now I wonder if there was something more to it.

[ A pause, and then he shares: ]
I used to wonder if it was possible the two of them were connected to us somehow. Lost Summoned.

I assume you've found proof that there were people summoned before us?

I figure that must have been the case, the people I spoke to from those first few Summonings mention being called mistakes.
